Leaves are down and the beds get their winter cover: shredded leaves first, a thin layer of compost on top. The worms do the rest by spring.

Cloves planted pointy end up, a hand's width apart, about two knuckles deep. Last year's hardneck did better than the softneck, so this year it is hardneck only.

Saving tomato seed

Scoop, ferment in a jar for three days, rinse, dry on a plate. Label everything twice.
